Vacation is going well! I am at this moment watching Flash 2x14, have read a lot, walked the dog a lot, generally recharged and refreshed.

Writing...is not going as well. I have some ideas, some snippets and pieces, but I'm having a hard time kickstarting the thing. So there's that.

Here, have some spoilery thoughts about the Earth 2 arc while I'm pondering the best way into the ideas I have. (Like, if I have the clever prompt of "multiverse cat caught up a tree"...where does that go?)

It's a simple thing, but: design. Holy mackerel, do I want to live on Earth-2. If Earth-1 (our usual home) is Arts & Crafts with touches of Art Deco (like the Central City police station), then Earth-2 is Art Deco tipping into Streamline Moderne and that is right up my aesthetic alley. I'm doing an entire house in Art Deco with touches of Streamline, for crying out loud. SO GORGEOUS.

I wish we'd expanded the universe of Earth-2 a bit more, but the tantalizing bits we got were nice. In that same vein, I wish we'd gotten more of Harrison Wells's actual backstory. On Earth-1, his wife's death was (supposedly) motivation for a lot of his drive. So....Earth-2 Wells had a daughter but not a wife? Or...I don't know. Maybe it doesn't matter as much as my backstory-loving heart wants it to.

That said: Jessie Wells has some really interesting potential, especially now that she's stuck on Earth-1.

I am somewhat spoiled for the Jay Garrick storyline, which I find deeply frustrating on a number of levels. I'll get into it more when I finish the season. I get it, I get what they were trying to do, I just...wanted something else from it.

Maybe Caitlin could stop getting shat on. I think that would be a nice plot twist. She has SO much to her, so many levels and depths and so much heart, and wow does she keep getting kicked to the curb. I want her to have an actual storyline, one of her own, not one in which she is in service to the men who have their storylines.

Iris also suffers a bit from that same writing flaw, though her Earth-2 counterpart did a lot of the heavy lifting in that arc.
