*cracks knuckles* Let's see if some show recaps will start the writing juices.

Vacation is going well! I am at this moment watching Flash 2x14, have read a lot, walked the dog a lot, generally recharged and refreshed.

Writing...is not going as well. I have some ideas, some snippets and pieces, but I'm having a hard time kickstarting the thing. So there's that.

Here, have some spoilery thoughts about the Earth 2 arc while I'm pondering the best way into the ideas I have. (Like, if I have the clever prompt of "multiverse cat caught up a tree"...where does that go?)

I'm taking a reading vacation next week.

I'm stealing away the dog and leaving my husband to a bachelor life with the cat. We're going to a house on the beach, where I will read and take long walks and cut quilt squares and write.

I will not: work on the house, worry about the house, check Facebook, talk to other people, or really engage too much with the world.

I will probably do some work, because I am collaborating on a couple of big grants that need to go into review by the end of the week, but hopefully not much.

I have set, as a goal, to write for 90 minutes each day at least. Some of that will be cracking my knuckles and getting back into playing with original ideas. Some of that will be professional thinking work.

I want some of it to be fannish. I have a Pern story tickling my brain that has been lodged there for months, something long and character-driven set during and after the events of Dragonsdawn.

I'm going to think about Supergirl and Flash, and my old fandoms.

To that end: does anyone have any prompts they want to give me for Supergirl or Flash? Or old fandoms: Alias, Pern, Valdemar, and probably a few I'm forgetting now. Try me.

I'll write het or gen, but have no real preferences for character or pairing beyond that.

Well, hi.

Probably no one I know is here anymore, but: hi.

I've been feeling a lack of fannish writing and journaling in my life lately. I miss the days when LJ was a heady shared experience, when online anonymity was used for good, and I miss writing.

I'm still actively horse blogging at beljoeor.blogspot.com, and that will continue, but I'm going to try to write my fannish things here. (Horses are a fandom, like anything else, but I am firmly established at that blog and like the community I have there; no need to try to re-invent the wheel.)

So, what am I fannish about right now?

Arrowverse shows, mostly. Supergirl first and foremost, followed by Flash. Legends of Tomorrow has potential (and Sara and Kendra <3), but I haven't seen much of it. I loved Arrow years ago but fell out of it.

I'm working right now on catching up with Flash, and will then embark on Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow. No way will I get everything caught up in time for the new episodes, but I'm feeling that same itch. That wonderful itch, that I didn't know I missed. The one that says Lucy Lane needs backstory fic, that there's more to explore with Kendra coming to terms with being Hawkgirl (like the fact that her soulmate is a huge dick?).

I'm also reading a lot, and I'd love to write more about the things I'm reading. I'm working to read more diversely, read more thoughtfully, and to spend quality time doing so instead of taking a break every 20 minutes to check social media.

Lastly, I'm doing a lot of crafting. Part of that is sparked by an 18-months-and-counting home renovation during which I've learned tons of new skills. Part of that is inheriting a sewing machine and finding that making things with fabric is both a useful skill and a way to re-connect with a much-beloved and very missed grandmother. I've made a couple of quilts, have ideas for more. For me, it's less a creative outlet than it is a way to solve puzzles, to make useful things, and to put things together in ways that make sense.

So, I'll be talking about all of those things here.
